Manufacturer Rusty Pickle announced yesterday that they are closing down operations and liquidating their inventory.
The company, based in Salt Lake City and owned by Tasha & Lance Anderson, had not exhibited at a CHA show since at least 2008.
The company’s announcement blamed the economy for their closure:
This past year has been incredibly tough on Rusty Pickle due to the economic situation. We feel that we can no longer survive as a company; consequently we have decided to close Rusty Pickle.
An inventory liquidation is in progress at the Rusty Pickle warehouse and on their website:
On Rustypickle.com, everything is now 50% off – prices are as marked. The warehouse is also now open to shop. Call or email to find out more of what we have. (801) 746-1045 or email Jeri@rustypickle.com

Such a shame. But from the insider scuttlebutt it wasn’t a poor economy that led to their demise……poor to no customer service; inability to service LSS’s orders in a timely fashion (or at all). Having known several retailers who ordered from them…they were the worst in the industry. A real shame: great product, lousy business sense and management.
For what it is worth, I went to the Warehouse Sale and discovered a couple of things:
*a significant portion of the Fall/Winter 2009 line was never printed.
*a number of employees took final pay via product.
*Rusty Pickle has been down to minimal staff for almost a year.
I was also told that he is still going to create kits and teach classes. Although without a line to promote and to promote him, it could be a tough row to hoe.
I’m sooo sorry they are closing down there doors. I just love there paper line..Shame!!
Very sad…
