Loved the article. We were talking about the industry today and here are a few points that came up. 1. Not enough emphasis on actual memory keeping. More emphasis might bring more new scrappers to the hobby. 2. Too many one photo layouts. 3. Too many stock photos. We want to see more real people and photos. The layouts we see now are beautiful but unrealistic when not everyone has all close up shots with beautiful people. It's like buying a home based on what the model home looks like. When you move in with all your stuff, it's not the same. Just a few of our thoughts. I can't wait for your new website.

Great article, as always. Its true that there were too many stores and not enough dollars. All that's left in my area is 1 'chain' store for scrap stuff and I live in a major metro area. I shop online for stuff or at the mass merch stores even thought they don't carry anything 'hot'.
I can't imagine losing all my magazines - I love to have it to hold in my hands and rip apart and hope that the companies that advertise in them see the value in continuing as there aren't that many ways to get product images in front of so many customers - at least with the group of friends scrap with.

Thanks for the update. I appreciated seeing the problem from within and from outside the scrapbook industry.
Do you know if the digital scrapbooking websites are struggling too?

I definitely agree about what they're saying. Especially about weak and failing businesses moving out to avoid too much implosion. This is a hard time for the industry, but I think many of us saw it getting too big, too fast and now between that and the economy it's a few big steps back.
I have confidence scrapbooking will forge on, if only in ways modified from those glory times a few years back.

Ooops, computer locked up, hope this didn't post twice.
I recently heard that the Creative Memories magazine, Lasting Moments, will end in the fall as well.
These are tough times for magazines.
