If you are missing Simple Scrapbooks magazine already, here’s something that might help ease the pain a bit: Easier-Than-Ever Scrapbooking 2 from Creating Keepsakes. (In case you missed the first volume in 2006, it is still available on Amazon.)
As you can see from the cover, Easier-Than-Ever 2 is being marketed as containing “recipes for scrapbooking”–a popular concept among consumers–and that concept really is carried off well in this issue. It makes scrapbooking a beautiful page seem approachable and do-able.
To me, this special issue contains everything I loved about Simple. It is packed with clean, graphic styled pages that make me want to do a lot of heavy lifting (scraplifting, that is.) A lot of the designs make use of color blocking. The layouts are fast and easy to duplicate as well as being beautiful to look at. They are even accompanied by full instructions, a general supply list, and an estimate of the time involved in recreating them.
And, if you are tired of single-page-single-photo layouts you won’t see many here! Most of these layouts are multi-photo, and multi-page. They are real layouts for real scrapbookers who have lots of photos they want to include from an event.
Best of all, because these layouts are designed to be fast & easy, and so many of the styles are color-block based, they are mostly very affordable to create. That’s something that we can all appreciate these days.
Want to see what I am talking about for yourself? You can get a sneak peek inside the issue on CK’s website.
This will most definitely be on my scrap table to work from next time I sit down to scrapbook. Scraplifting from this issue actually makes the thought of sitting down to scrapbook less overwhelming than it has been in quite awhile.
If you’d like a copy…there are two ways you can get one! If you are feeling lucky, leave a comment below and you might be one of three lucky winners to win a free copy in a giveaway here on Scrapbook Update!
How to enter: I’ll take entries until next Monday night at midnight eastern time. One entry per person please, and you must fill in your email address in the box on the comment form for it. I’m the only person that will see it but it is needed to verify identities of the winners.

I stopped buying SB “how to” books several years ago, however, from your review that sounds like a book that should definitely come into my studio here. It also sounds perfect as a gift for a good friend who is just starting to scrapbook!
I got to browse this recently. It was really good! At first I thought it was too easy pages, then I decided I really liked the clean look and the time guidelines on the layouts! I think I need a copy to own!
