Friday Round-up: Inque Boutique, Disney, Obama & Custom Fabric

Here’s a few interesting things that I’ve come across this week:

Inque Boutique Available Again: Darice has announced to their wholesale customers that they are now ready to start taking orders for Inque Boutique product.

Disney Bookings Down in 2009: Walt Disney Company announced yesterday that its bookings are currently down 10% for the first two quarters of fiscal year 2009 from the previous fiscal year. Why should the scrapbook industry care? Disney vacations are a popular scrapbooking topic, and manufacturers and stores rely on Disney licensed products as being reliable sellers. Fewer Disney vacations means fewer Disney vacation scrapbooks. Manufacturers and stores may need to adjust their expectations of the performance of Disney-licensed lines according.

Photos of History In The Making: If you want to scrapbook about this week’s historic presidential election, and want some fabulous photos to do it with, check out Barack Obama’s photostream on Flickr. The stream includes over 50,000 photos from the campaign, including behind-the-scenes on election night. All of the campaign’s photos (like a lot of Flickr photos) are licensed with Creative Commons for non-commercial use and can be downloaded from Flickr for printing – making them perfect for creating scrapbook pages for personal albums (but not for publication).

Design Your Own Fabric: Spoonflower.com will print your design on 4.3 oz. 100% Kona™ cotton fabric for $18/yard. Custom designed fabric could have so many craft uses! Another use for the site: for a designer to provide samples to potential licensees, to show, for instance, how a design originally created for paper would translate to fabric.

Comments

  1. Disney released a huge promotion the other day… something with free nights/tickets.
I’m a fan of the free entry or $75 gift card on your birthday that they’re doing next year (proof of birthday required for this, unlike the birthday buttons)
