Generate a Color Palette From A Photo Automatically!

From Big Huge Labs, here’s a free tool that will be of help to designers: the Palette Generator. The tool will create a color palette (complete with Pantone numbers) from any photo you upload directly or select from a Flickr or Photobucket account that you link.

This could be useful for designing the final product – layouts – and choosing the right colors to go with a set of photos. Or it could be useful (especially with the Pantone numbers) in using a photo as an inspiration piece to create an original design from for product.

The tool is easy to use. Just upload the photo from your computer or link the program to your Flickr library with only a few clicks. Then select the photo and click “create” to see the palette.

The palette can be downloaded in ASE (Adobe Swatch Exchange) format to use with Photoshop, or it is also provided in a text/CSS format for copy & paste use.

Big Huge Labs is a free service supported by ads and offers other cool tools besides the Palette Generator. If you want to get rid of the ads and get some other benefits, PRO accounts are available for $25/year.
