My Spray Glue Problem….

For the longest time it seemed I had tried every adhesive out there for scrapbookers – except one. Spray glue. Frankly, I was scared of the stuff. What if I made a mess? What if I did it wrong? Wasn’t it hard to use? There didn’t seem to be a lot of room for error in using such a product.

But my increasing infatuation with working with transparencies meant I needed some way to adhere them, and you can only do it with brads or hidden adhesive so many times. So I took a deep breath, gathered my courage, and took the plunge. I broke down and bought a can of….Krylon spray adhesive. After staring at it sitting in my work area for awhile I read the directions. They didn’t seem too difficult. And then I came to a point where I wanted to use a transparency and needed a way to adhere it. So I decided it was now or never, time to try the spray adhesive.

So I laid out a ton of newspaper to catch overspray and started shaking the can. Two minutes doesn’t sound like a long time….until you try to shake a can….and shake it….and shake it….while looking at the clock counting the seconds until you can stop! Finally it was time and there was no turning back. I had my transparency all laid out and pushed the button and did several passes over it with the can. OK, so far so good. I picked it up and carried it to my waiting layout to place it and gingerly put it down just so in the right spot, desperately afraid it would adhere before I had it correctly in place. But I got it in place and then waited with my fingers crossed, hoping that the cloudiness would clear up. And like magic, it did! My transparency was adhered but I couldn’t even tell the adhesive was there!

Ta-Da! A whole new adhesive world opened to me at that moment!

Now, I use the spray adhesive constantly! My biceps will likely look like a body builder before too long from all that can shaking, but the payoff is a fabulous tool to help create gorgeous pages. I have made a few mistakes and discovered to my relief that Un-du adhesive remover does in fact work on spray adhesive. So now I am getting even braver in my spray glue exploits! I went from being terrified of using it to using it on almost anything…

My name is Nancy and I have a spray glue problem.

Nancy – you have inspired me. I have also been getting bored (or sometimes very frustrated) with the same ole ways to attached transparencys. Thanks for the inspiration.
